THE National Arts Council of Zimbabwe is calling for entries for the ninth edition of the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) from artists in all the 10 provinces of the country.

A total of 35 artists from the disciplines of music, theatre, film and television, dance, media, visual and literary arts are set to be honoured. They will be honoured at a prize giving ceremony scheduled for February 20 next year.The venue is yet to be announced.
Nicholas Moyo, the NAC assistant director and art promotion manager, said registration was currently underway
"The registration is underway and already 40 entries have been submitted," he said.Artists can submit their works that should have been produced between December 1, 2008 and November 30 2009.
Apart from submissions by the artists themselves, members of the public are also free to nominate artists of their choice.
"We are inviting all artists from the provinces around the country to come and submit their works before November 30. Already we have 40 entries that were submitted and we are looking forward to more submissions before the deadline," he said.
Forms are available at the offices of the National Arts Council and the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe nationwide.
